How do the half-day and full-day tours differ?

The Half-Day Tour lasts about 3.5 to 4 hours and includes highlights like Mount Victoria and the Weta Workshop. The Full-Day Tour runs 7.5 to 8 hours and includes everything in the Half-Day Tour, plus a Lord of the Rings-themed lunch and visits to additional locations such as Rivendell and the Gardens of Isengard.

What should I bring?

We recommend comfortable walking shoes, a windbreaker or light raincoat, any personal medication, a reusable water bottle, and your sense of adventure.

Are the tours suitable for non-Lord of the Rings fans?

Definitely. The tours include beautiful scenery and local history that anyone can enjoy.

Where do the tours depart from?

All tours leave from the Central Wellington iSite. We also offer pickups from most central hotels and the cruise ship terminal.

Do tours run in all weather conditions?

Yes, tours run rain or shine. We recommend dressing appropriately for the weather and bringing a rain jacket just in case.

How can I book a tour?

Tours can be booked directly on our website. Early booking is advised, especially during busy seasons.

What is the cancellation policy?

You’ll receive a full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before your tour.

Can I book a private tour?

Absolutely. We offer private tours for individuals, families, or groups looking for a more personalized experience. Contact us via bookings@wtgl.nz for more info.

Can I make a last-minute booking?

Yes, last-minute bookings are possible if spots are available, but we recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date and time.

How physically demanding are the tours?

Surfaces can be uneven or gravel in places, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. If you have any mobility concerns, feel free to reach out.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, our tours are not wheelchair accessible. Some locations involve uneven terrain and areas that are not suitable for mobility aids.

Can I bring children on the tour?

Yes, children are welcome! Children aged 3–12 can join the tour at the child rate, and infants aged 0–2 travel free—but must still be booked in. Please let us know in advance if you require a car seat so we can accommodate your needs.
