Morning Departure in the Capital

Greet our passionate guides in the heart of Wellington (view location map) and start your tour to some famous movie locations and stunning views of the capital from Wellingtons own Mount Victoria. Fans: Where Frodo and his companions hid from the menacing Black Riders.

Movie Magic Land

After we visit our first movie locations. we travel to the legendary WETA Workshop, where movie-making takes center stage. Embark on a behind-the-scenes tour to witness film props and weaponry. Fans: Find your movie specific tour itinerary below.

After a morning with lots of stunning memories, photographs and sharing fascinating movie history you will be returned to your Central Wellington iS ITE just in time for lunch.

Unearth Middle-earth

Our adventure begins in the heart of Wellington, where we'll whisk you away from the Central Wellington iSite (view map).

As we embark on this epic quest, you'll be greeted by our team of passionate guides, all of whom have their own tales to share about the making of Lord of the Rings and other famous movies. Some of them, as many Wellingtonians acted during the productions.

Journey to the Heart of Middle-earth

First we make our way to Mt Victoria, where you'll be transported to the serene landscapes of the Outer Shire, the very place where Frodo and his companions hid from the menacing Black Riders. Explore other locations that doubled as Hobbiton and Bree, adding depth to your understanding of Middle-earth.

Weta Workshop: Behind-the-Scenes Magic

We visit the legendary Weta Workshop, where the enchantment of movie-making takes center stage. Explore and capture memorable photos of the incredible exhibits. Dive into the history and achievements of Weta Workshop through a captivating documentary. Then, embark on a behind-the-scenes tour to witness film props and weaponry, learn their creation secrets, and meet the talented artists behind these iconic pieces.
